Aren't We All a Work In Progress?

Updated: May 29, 2021

Spend Time in Nature

I have a dear friend that I go on walks with. We joke that after every walk it's like we've been to church. It's a friendship that I cherish. She's a friend that I can truly be authentic with. She doesn't judge me. She always has insight that I don't always see and she enlightens me on so many possibilities.

Today I told her how long my journey has been to get to where I am now.

I told her that there is still shame in my story.

I told her I wished I'd arrived where I am now sooner than I have.

I told her my ego is still telling me to be quiet.

I told her I'm afraid to tell the whole story.

She said, that I shouldn't be afraid to tell my truth. The more I tell the truth the easier it will be to heal.

She said, yes, the healing will hurt at times.

She said, don't listen to the people who are judging and to know that there are a lot of people out there that will say "THANK YOU" for sharing your truth.

The funny thing is that I know all of this. I know my thoughts create my feelings, my feelings create my actions, and my actions create my results.

I'm glad that I have the training to not let my negative feelings compound with more negative thoughts. Practicing this has been the one thing that has lead me to being open and being a certified life coach to help others who want to stop over drinking.

We all need a friend that lets us be who we are and say what we are thinking and feeling.

We are not alone on this journey of life.

I have also learned that I am exactly where I need to be. Everything has happened to me for a reason. I have traveled the road that I was supposed to travel. No regrets. If I hadn't had my struggles I wouldn't be able to understand someone else's struggle.

On that note, I'll leave you with my favorite mantra:

THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH YOU - OR ME!
